I really liked the grammar game we played during class. Talk about a great way to disguise learning! I suppose the only reason I enjoy the grammar showdown is because of the fruit snack reward if won. I wish teachers would have gone over these grammar concepts with a fun game earlier in my English career so I'm not so far behind now.
Despite the great start to class, the wind was taken right out of the sails as another pre test was sent our way. I felt more familiar with this pre test when compared with the one we took in the beginning of the week. My familiarity, however, did not mean that I performed any better. In fact I probably did worse on this pre-test due to the plethora of seemingly right answers. Not only was it hard to choose among many similar answers, it was hard to decipher exactly what the passages were trying to say. Each time I re-read the poem or passage, I came away with a different meaning. This made it difficult to answer each question. With that being said, that is the exact point of the pre-test.
The first week is finally over! This dreaded week is the worst of the whole school year. It is so hard to leave the laziness of summer behind and commit yourself to a rigid schedule. However, it becomes easier once you are in a routine, which is why the first week is so hard, because you are not yet in the "school routine". This weekend provides a break from school but also the most treasured item during the school year: sleep. I cannot wait to lay down and get some well deserved shut eye. The best part is there will be no alarm disturbing my sleep cycles at 6:30 in the morning! Oh the little things. But just when things begin to look up, Sunday hits, and I will find myself preparing for yet another grueling week at Dewitt High School. Do I sound positive or what?
